It Would Be Easier...

It would be easier to whine--
to rant in anger and enumerate every single unreasonable demand; to react in groans and roll eyes at the situation, regardless of how severe or light it is.

It would be easier to throw a tantrum--to yell, "This is not what I want!" at the top of your lungs. To throw things against the wall or slam your fist on the table when you don't get your way.

It would be easier to keep quiet--to hold your emotions at bay and shove things under the rug when all you feel like doing is crying. You hold your hands in clenched fist as you struggle to keep your head above the murk of emotions.

It would be easier to hide--to not let anyone know what you're going through; to maintain an image in everyone's eyes, use a mask for all to see that you're doing just fine.

It would be easier to be apathetic--no responsibility in the situation so that it would be easier to walk away and say, "I have nothing to do with that now, and none ever in the future."

It would be easier to quit--to drop the ball on everyone in the middle of the crisis and say, "That's it" without so much of trying, or not even asking for help.

You think it would be easier that way.

But deep inside, you know, things aren't getting easier when you take that road.
The problem at hand stands, and you seem to add more to it.
Or you look back, regret and say, "I wish I'd done otherwise"
You end up feeling worse about yourself and wonder "Will this ever end?"
There should be a better way to do this, to make things right.

Yes, there is a better way to do this, and is the real easy way out.
It will make you let go of the control, test your resolve, challenge your character, shake your principles and alter your beliefs.

The better way to do this,
is to say "I have done my best", that your best will not always be enough, and that's okay.
is to acknowledge that you're not in control, and that you don't need to be in charge.
is to accept that things don't always go the way you planned, and that it's not your fault that it happened.
is to admit that you're naturally weak, that you're a lost sheep, and that you need help.
The better way to do this is to let it go--no, not quit--but to turn over the responsibility to someone else.

Someone all-knowing--whose ways and thoughts are higher than anyone we know. The Wise One, whose words are always right and true. The Ultimate Planner, who has seen far ahead, even the end of all things.
Someone all-powerful--who never tires nor slumbers, whose strength never wanes no matter what. The Miracle Worker, who has a mighty hand and reaches with outstretched arm; who does not withhold His miraculous power to anyone who needs and asks.
Someone sovereign--who has never lost control, and will not ever lose the grip. The Lord of all, who made all things in heaven and on earth; who has appointed the kings, rulers and authorities according to His will.
This someone else does not exist on this earth--He is not a man that we see in flesh or feel the warmth; but you should not doubt His existence. He has been there even before all things were created, and will be there when things are about to come to an end.

Turn to Him, turn to God.

Won't it be easier, to let it go? Release all concern to Him?
To trust that He knows the way.
To recognize His control.
To know that He is powerful beyond what you can think of or imagine.
And finally, that in His greatness and awesomeness, He cares for you because He loves you; that His knowledge, strength and sovereignty is accessible for you.
All you need to do is to let it all go, and surrender to Him.

It would be easier that way.
Much, much easier.

====

26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
    Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
    and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
    not one of them is missing.
27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
    and complain, O Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
    my cause is disregarded by my God”?
28 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.
(Isaiah 40:26-31)
