Life As I Know It

Let me cut right to the chase--this is not the movie that you may have seen on HBO or Star Movies.

Because to tell you the truth, life is nowhere near a movie material. Or maybe I should change the order of that sentence: With all the drama that this world has, a movie can't even measure to the epic adventure that our lives really are.

I will have to agree with Mark when he said I can simply write about my life, or life in general from a perspective of a 20-year old. I don't have to sensationalize evert minute of my existence, it's naturally dramatic as each day unfolds.
I can almost hear a resounding "No, that's not true" from some of you (if I had any reader, that is). But allow me to hold the facts in your face--your life may seem to be boring to you right now, but take a moment to drop that egotism & start looking at the world at large.
Yesterday, a friend at work shared with us how blessed her high school classmate felt when his plane took off from Iraq. He was near tears when he realized that he was coming home to the Philippines alive & not in a box. Everyday, people die in Iraq because of the ongoing civil war.

Just yesterday, my workmates teased one another with the chocolates that we were eating. Know why? It came from Japan. "Radioactive yan! Tingnan mo, tunaw agad. Saka kapag pinatay mo ang ilaw makikita mo naggo-glow yan!" I was laughing at that moment, but now I realize that these jokes are a result of the nuclear powerplant meltdown in Japan that is causing newswaves & worries across the globe.

The upcoming BalikBayani concert of Ogie Alcasid maybe entertainment-oriented, but the motivation is the thousands of OFWs forced to come home after the tragedies around the world.

I may not be in the middle of movie-like fight scenes, or I may not be crying for a loved one that passed away, but it made me realize, LIFE AS I KNOW IT does not revolve around me. I am NOT the center of gravity for your lives to happen on account me.

Now, you think--why do I need to go to the cinema just to witness drama unfold? Just turn on your radio set and listen or watch from you free/cable TV & you'll see that you don't need the silver screen for all that. In fact, your favorite movies have watered down the value of life itself! Now, that's another story right there. But let me stop here for now.
Of course, this blog will not end in such tragedy. That is not the only way how I know life. We will celebrate life on my next blog. Ciao, for now. We're in the business of changing lives today!
